PROPOSAL/GRANT REQUEST

“INSTRUCTIONAL PLANNING GUIDE”

(EXPLANATION SHEET)

1. The “Overarching Goal of the Unit” should state what you want your students to learn from their participation in the “Unit”;

2. The “Essential Questions” serve as a guide in attaining the “Overarching Goal of the Unit”, and therefore must make a direct

connection to the stated “Goal”;

3. There must be (at least 1) “KCAS Standard” for each “Essential Question”, but can be more if needed;

4. There must be (at least 1) “I Can Statement” for each “KCAS Standard”, and it must make a direct connection to the “Standard”

used;

5. There must be (at least 1) “Assessment/Product” designated for each “I Can Statement”;

6. The “Activities” should be designed, and described as such, enabling the students to be successful on the “Assessment”, and

attain the “Overarching Goal of the Unit”;

7. The need for the “Materials Requested” should be easily recognized by the reviewer if the “Activities” are properly described.
